I live in California and I really want to to to University of Arizona the University of Oregon, ASU or Oregon State university to play football. Either of the four. What I am worried about is costs. It will be a lot of money to go to these schools. How can i apply for scholarships and will a football scholarship cover a lot of the costs?

Hi I have played varsity football for the last two years and Im never going to be a starter at my school, plus I want to get a job and I’m pretty tired of football. But how much would quitting now hurt my chances of getting into a school like Rice? I read that one of the things about ECs is to show your committed to stuff other than grades.

I have watched three big college football games today. One was Virginia Tech vs Miami. As a Virginia taxpayer, I want to know if my taxes are paying for this high level football at public universities. I am wondering if maybe the big, successful schools make money on football, but what about the small schools that do not attract as many spectators and probably not many TV contracts or payments. Also, do the big superpower football and basketball colleges share the wealth with other schools? In summary, are the taxpayers paying for all this entertainment?

I’m a 2nd year engineering student, and this campus can get pretty chaotic during its game days. People are vocal and very supportive of their teams, and that’s okay. However, how come people don’t express the same praise towards the engineering students as they do the athletic students?

I don’t mean to simply bash them, but our football players entertain people for a few hours for a few days out of the year. On the other hand, engineers design the cars people drive, the computers to monitor life support systems, and even the toothpaste these people use to brush their teeth every single day. Shouldn’t engineering students get at least some support and praise for their accomplishments too. How come this isn’t the case? How come so few people (compared to our football games) come to our robotics competitions, etc, to show their support for our engineering students? Don’t we affect people’s lives just as much…if not more?
