I asked this question recentlyand was shown a live global earth pic of Anfield. Liverpool's ground. In this pic can be seen at the Kop end hydroponic lamps right across the ground, which I would imagine are moved from one end to another during the non playing period.
which produces artifical sunlight Also one can notice on some grounds newly laid turf.., also lotsof clubs play on heavily watered piches, with the amount of revenue being generated by the PL, from tv it is in the interest of all clubs to cultivate a perfect playing surface old dick withers

Pitches are flooded with technology now. They haven't under pitch heaters to stop them getting too icy and wet in winter thus allowing a better playing surface. The groundsmen have a bigger job in the club now, a lot more care goes into them. Groundsmen are so important that Real Madrid bought Arsenal's recently! Its all just about the care of the pitch really and a bit of technology. They go round even at half time making sure the pitch is even. Hope that helped! scr3amt3am

i would presume that technology has improved as well as methods to keep it nice year around, perhaps they can replace the grass weekly. stoev8

Not sure, but probably synthetic turf. It's popular in the US, even with some larger high schools. adidas-fan
