How come the French football team is all Black?

Sue elise asked:

Not being racist it’s just an observation and I am curious. There’s only maybe just one or 2 white guys in the French football team. Would it be better for France to have men that are originally French rather than men who were born elsewhere and received naturalization?

How else would you expect them to win then? They certainly won’t be able to do it, right!

It’s not being racist at all, its a good question. Bert Weidemeier

Because they want to be . Alex

Their families probably came from French speaking African countries. Anti Apple

Yeah, actually, you are being racist. Because as you clearly don’t realise. A lot of, as you put it, originally French people ARE black. blueeyes

In the past France colonised lots of areas in Africa and many parts of Africa speak french as a result. These Africans naturally would choose France as a western country to immigrate to if they want to leave Africa as they’d be able to cope better in a country that speaks the same language as them. So there are many immigrants from Africa in France and lets be honest many African people tend to be very good at sport so it’s natural that they would be represented highly in the french team :) muse

wow this is such an ignorant question. I don’t have time to get into the whole slavery thing but your wrong on so many levels. The brazilian team is mostly black so are you trying to say there not brazilian? Anyway the french football team wouldn’t get very far if the team was just made up of ‘white’ french. Antonio

Because they have the best stamina, speed and football skills in France? toaster

They are born in France. That’s what defines your nationality. The world is changing and people are beginning to overcome racism. Countries like France no longer have a specific skin colour. These days it’s all about the culture you were brought up in. If you were born in France, you speak French and you behave like most other French people do then hey; you’re French. the two

  9. Dual says:

I have to reply to that. Most of the french players are not from Africa only. They’re also from the Caribbean Islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique then French Guyana or Reunion. And for your information all these islands are french overseas departments, therefore use Euro as a currency and hold french passport and identity card. France is the only european country that has recognised its colonies as part of the country itself… WIKIPEDIA is there to answer this ignorant question… Dual

  10. Sullivan says:

Those black players were born in France, speak French as a native language, hold French citizenship, were educated by France, were trained as footballers by France, and the only country that they can call home is France, so they are French in all ways possible except the color of their skin.

Is the color of their skin that much of a big deal for you? What about the fact that they hold a French passport and were trained by France’s national football academy? Or would you be happier if they changed their skin color to white?

Nationality is not defined by the color of your skin. Nationality is defined by your citizenship, where you were born, where you grew up, which country you can call home.

To suggest that anybody should not be allowed to represent their country based on the color of their skin is what we call racism. Sullivan

It would be better for France to not care about colour and pick the best 11 players available to them which they do.

If players like the answers above have a French passport grew up in France and see that as their home then they are French.

My favourite England player is Ledley King, who i see as being as English as Wayne Rooney regardless of whether he’s white or black. james

  14. Demiolla says:

France should protect its native culture and people as well… When I have visited France last time, I heard the Arabic language more than the French one. What did you do to your country? What are you leaving to your children? Keep on repeating your slogans about equal rights; there won’t be any in the near future when Arabs and Blacks will be the majority based on their fertility rates, and by then the above question will be applied to all of the other domains in the country, that used to be a French one. Demiolla

  15. Lelo says:

Because France is becoming an Arab-African country and the rest of Europe will follow. White people will soon be a minority in Europe. Lelo
