How do I get mud stains out of white football pants?

I have tried everything I can think of. My son has white practice pants for football and has been rolling in the mud. How do I get those pants back to white?? We can’t use bleach. Any ideas?

    it’s a bit late now, but generally mud should be left to dry on washable items.
    Brush the dried mud off, use a stain remover on bad marks then launder as usual.

    If they are beyond saving suggest Charity Shop trawl for another pair at a reasonable cost. wendy k

    HAVE YOU ASKED THE COACH OR OTHER MOMS. THE TIDE COMMERCIALS ALWAYS SAID IT WORKED FOR THEM. HELOISE HINT WAS DISH WASHING LIQUID AND BLEACH AND WATER TO SOAK. IT WORKS ON BABY CLOTHES. lyn

    Mud and Dirt
    Remove as much of the excess dirt as you can. Soak the clothing with a presoak for 30 minutes for a new stain. If the stain is old, it should soak for a few hours. Wash the clothing and rinse. If the stain remains, repeat the soaking again.
    -Have tried the above with Oxy Clean it works.
    I do want to add do not dry it until the stain is gone because drying it can set the stain and make it harder to remove.
    Also try this:
    8. Mud: Scrape off whatever is possible and then soak in cold water. Agitate water to remove any extra and then launder. You don’t want to leave this stain to set. Launder as usual. (See Tip #4)
    4. Grass… you might not believe this but I always used corn syrup to remove grass stains. Don’t ask me why it works… it just does. brattybard

    ammonia gets down and removes any stain in the wash. I would pour directly on it and soak it in a container. Then wash it using some deteregent, This will release the dirt from it. It is a good idea to use ammonia with your everyday wash. Beware of using it with bleach.

    However if they pants have been through the dryer and is preset not even bleach will get it out, but ammonia has, with us! Even it takes a few washes. glenngal05701
