John Stifloski asked:

I play football for my school and I discovered that one of my teammates is gay. It is really uncomfortable being around him. He is a really good football player but he looks at everyone funny. I am afraid to confront him about it because I think he can beat me up and I do not want the reputation that I got beat up by a gay guy.

He’s gay… if “looking at you funny” is all he does, that’s nothing. Tons of straight guys verbally harass girls all the time. This guy isn’t doing anything to you.

It seems like this supposed “problem” that you have to “deal” with is all in your head (homophobia), because I surely don’t see any sort of problem.

What were you thinking of doing/saying anyway? I don’t understand… Spunk

Dont be an idiot, He’s gay you’re not just leave it alone. If he tries something report it. You may just think he is looking at you funny because you know he is gay. He has his choice on what to like as you do. bigswol560

No need to confront him. If he hasn’t done anything, then there’s no problem. If he grabs your arse and winks at you, then you can start worrying. Flip

Stop worrying about stupid **** and play football. You have no idea how many people you know or have met who are gay and your life is no worse than it would be if you did know.

He looked at you funny? How many times have you looked at someone else funny and no one gave a damn?

A lot of people have died this year around the world because others thought something was different about them.

Grow up. Phillip B (GEORGIA ON MY MIND)

What you learn from sports is much more than what is done on a field or a track. It also presents lessons in life and how to deal with situations and people. Your coach is there to help you not only with athletics, but also these very issues.

Your reaction is very normal….at this point you need to take advantage of the support system that is in place. Talk to your coach, he will listen and help you deal with this in the right way. This will not be the only time in your life that you are faced with an uncomfortable situation, learn how to deal with this and the next time will not be such a big deal.

    Good luck to you! rowdynation

That is weird. But if hes a good guy what does it matter, hes not tackling you. Max

  14. Bill B says:

The only one who has to worry is the center if he is the QB. Seriuosly though, show some tolerance. I find the only ones who protest too loud are the ones who sometimes have those feelings, too, and want to put down the gay guy to prove, that they are not. Bill B

ACCEPT HIM AS HE IS AND STOP BEING A BIGOT! THEWORLD HAS ENOUGH HATRED! Danny
