chobo asked:

I’ve got a bad blister on my foot that I need to protect during my game tonight. I already wear an extra pair of socks besides my football socks. What other things can I do to protect it?

Duck Tape!!!! I use it for all sports. Soccer, wrestling, tennis, even hiking. It’s the only thing that will stay, mold skin doesn’t last.

Blisters on the feet can be prevented by wearing comfortable, well-fitting shoes and clean socks. Blisters are more likely to develop on skin that is moist, so moisture-absorbing socks or frequent sock changes will aid those with particularly sweaty feet. While exercising or playing sports, special sports socks can help keep feet drier and reduce the chance of blisters.

Before going for a long walk, it is important to ensure that shoes have been broken in. If a hot area on the foot is felt, taping padding over the affected area can prevent the formation of a blister.

To avoid blisters on the hands, gloves should be worn when using tools such as a shovel or pickaxe, doing manual work such as gardening, and handling detergents, cleaning products, solvents and other chemicals.

A lubricant, typically talcum powder, can be used to reduce friction between skin and apparel. People put talcum powder inside gloves or shoes for this purpose.

Sunscreen and sun protection should also be used during the hottest part of the day to avoid blisters from sunburn, and moisturizing, after-sun or calamine lotions can help to ease discomfort in the case of burns. Kimberly V

there are special blister band-aids that you can get from walgreens, or any such drug store, that work beautifully, best of luck in your game and with those blisters Julieeeee

mole skin and pre wrap, most of the time mole skin will not stay if it is on the back of the foot or where you bend so wrap prewrap around it to keep it in place then put a little tape to hold the prewrap in place. or look around you drug store and see if they have anything else. with you extra socks make sure that they stay up and are at least 2 inches over the blister Jen S

Ok, so there are these things called “mole-skin”. They’re a tan/skin colored bandage, with a sticky side and a fuzzy side. Cut them into squares/rectangles slightly larger than your blister (big enough to fully cover it). Then cover it up with a band-aid/bandage (to keep it from falling off). Mole-skin takes off the friction and pressure where the blister is [on your ankle, or wherever].

*NOTE: Mole-skin might not be listed as “mole-skin” at your local store (like walgreens, etc.). You can ask the employees for their first aid/medical section and just look around for it. It has many other names that it has been called. Here’s a website with examples of what they can be called and look like at the stores….

    Hope this helps! =D
