What are the traits of real football fans?

I am a massive Manchester United fan and have been for 25 years. The club is in my blood.
I dont hate any other football club and never have done, in fact I admire Uniteds rivals for their traditions and styles, but what to you defines real football fans as I come across too many fake ones.

What do people mean when they say that some football clubs have a particularly unpleasant set of supporters?

Is there really any difference between the supporters of Millwall, Manchester United and Leeds, and those of any other professional team in the country?
Football attracts rabble, so how can any club be free of yobs (it’s their chief form of entertainment)?
How many people can actually claim to have been to a contemporary football match where there hasn’t been anyone shouting, swearing or firing some sort of abuse at players/officials?
