What machine to use for working out legs for football speed?

When I go to the gym, what machine or what type of exercise should I do to work on the muscles in my legs that I use for running speed in football? What is the name of the muscle that is responsible for speed?

    well you’ve got to develop your leg muscles more..
    which means u would want to train them once a week
    with 4 sets of squats
    3 sets of leg presses
    and 4 sets of hamstring curls

    3 sets of calf raises
    3 sets of sitting calf raises

    If your trying to become quicker, weights wont play that big a part. It important but look into learning more about twitch fibers and technique. Also look into plyometrics. It not only increases vertical jump but also speed. A lot of professional sportmen had done that type of exercising. Vince Smith
