Some of the Women’s world cup has been horrible.

look, ‘dave,’ who cares if the players are (according to you) ‘ugly and probably lesbians’? first off, the point of watching women’s football isn’t for their looks, it’s for their GAME. second, the sexual orientations of female footballers cannot be assumed at a glance, as since it doesn’t matter even a bit, then you lose either way.

anyway, the point is, women’s football isn’t as good as men’s, yes that is true for the most part. but that is only because women have less opportunity to play, and when they finally do get the chance, all that happens is this…perverted males ogle at the pretty ones, and the scarce actual fans are ridiculed. so of course it isn’t going to be taken as seriously.

lucky for us women, we don’t care about public opinion.

and by the way, a man who ridicules women’s soccer because he would rather see almost-nude women rolling around in grass is not exactly a “high-quality standard” who we would listen to. not that you’re a complete imbecile and pervert, or anything…

Some of the games I’ve watched were very entertaining. The AUS vs. CAN game this morning was worth getting up at 5AM for.

Pre-empting programming? At 5AM, there’s nothing on, except re-runs of heads from last night. Oh, so you’re a big “Mike and Mike” fan, huh? Get over it. You can miss a couple hours of what is mostly meaningless drivel anyway.

This evening, I tried to watch some of the Chicago/Dallas MLS game. It was nowhere near as fun to watch as the games this morning.

That and the skill level at this World Cup is leaps and bounds better than the previous WC, well for most teams except the US at least. H_A_V_0_C

By the same token, we could ask why American college football is being shown on nearly 20 channels every Saturday in the fall. Do we need to see all of those games? I don’t think that the “standard” is up in all of those either. Yet you watch because you enjoy the sport.

You have to admit that the quality of play in women’s soccer has improved drastically over the past ten years. The sport has grown leaps and bounds in the U.S. keeper0137

both ESPN and ESPN2 preempt programming to show all of the games… i don’t think its at the level where it needs to be aired on multiple channels, i’m just saying…

and yeah, the standard is nowhere near the men’s game, true, but i think women’s sports need to be shown, but even more so to be supported by OTHER WOMEN…

more men watch sports than females, period, and the guys that usually watch female sports do so because somebody hot is playing…

that’s not a viable business model…

you need more female viewers, but the majority of the female population is tuning out leagues they should be supporting… so after fighting for equality, they’re not even celebrating it in a way…
